RE: 1911 firearms
Sorry for the long delay in posting guys,I have some health issues that had me down and my crazy son[arn't they all] smashed his face up real good in a quad accident[he is doing fine now just need to let the facial bones mend]. Any who, I went to Gun Toters and in a week or so i will have a RIA Tac .45, im selling 2 guns that i don't shoot much and will then have the funds for the RIA. Thanks for all your replys as one can never have too much info when going to spend money.

RE: 1911 firearms
I don't do to well with selling my guns. I always get sellers remorse after they are gone.
Good luck with the new one.

RE: 1911 firearms
I know what you mean by remorse, one of the guns is a S&W m10 4inch heavy bbl .38cal,real nice gun and a good shooter,i just don't shoot it much and the other is a Heritage Arms 22/22mag ssa 6 inch bbl,fun plinker. I showed them to a friend of my son[the crazy one] and told him they were for sale and he said consider them sold.
Now i'm like a kid waiting for xmas to arrive. redeye202 |

RE: 1911 firearms
If anyone hears of any deals in the Phila Metro area on a Springfield Armory 1911 TRP, let me know. I fired my friends a while back and I love that gun. If you want an out of the box 1911 with a custom feel, this is the gun for you. Its a bit on the high side, around $1200.00 or so, but if you have the cash; it's well worth it price.
Also, I'm thinking of selling one of my Colt LE Carbines, .223. If anyone is interested and you're in the Philly area, send me a PM. This was a pre-ban model and is one of the two I purchased the day the ban was lifted. The other is a 9mm, which I plan on converting with a Gemtech Talon upper.

RE: 1911 firearms
Went to J&G gun shop in Throop,Pa.,i do some of my buying there,he showed me a RIA Tac. dura coat[kind of greenish] for $475 before tax&pic. Now this is a used gun,i was told that the gun had only 1 mag of ammo shot thru it and the was traded in for something else and that this was the best buy in the shop, needless to say i said thanks for showing me the gun and left. Im now going to buy the same gun except it's parkerized finish and is NIB for $15.00 more out the door[tax&pics included] from another shop. What do you think, NIB park.,or slightly used dura coat.

RE: 1911 firearms
Advanced Arms has RIAs in stock, both milspec and tactical, cheaper than what they go for at J&Gs. J&Gs is a candystore, but it's a damned overpriced one.

RE: 1911 firearms
Jah your right on the overpriced,it's close to me so thats why i go there first plus his shop is just loaded with interesting stuff and i can fondle any gun without and pressure from him to buy. Thanks for your offer to try your taurus but the cold weather and my condition don't mix well, how about when the weather gets a little warmer we get together and swap guns and waste some ammo then go to Starbucks for coffee with milk foam. Oh as for Advanced Arms,i would like to go there but i can't do stairs, yes i'm that bad,it's first floor or elevator, anything else is a no go.

RE: 1911 firearms
On to plan B, the buyer has backed out on buying my guns so the 45 is on hold.
May have to trade them in on the slightly used RIA Tac. I had a feeling this would happen, must be karma that i go for the used one. Plan B,ya just gotta love the plan B. redeye202 |

RE: 1911 firearms
Well i did plan B , went down to J&G and traded in the 2 guns mentioned in post #23 on the ever so slightly used RIA Tac Duracoat 45, out the door with tax-pic and 1 box of blazer fmj-------$171.25+ the 2 trade in guns. I think i got a fair deal.
Now for better weather so i go out and let the gun make loud noises. redeye202 |

RE: 1911 firearms
I was wondering when my RIA was made so i posted for info on a 1911 forum and within a few hours a person from Armscor who is a member of the forum pm'd my for the ser#.
Today i was informed that my gun was made on 24 june 08 and shipped to the states the following month of 08. It's amazing that people who work for companies who mfg. lower costing but quality made guns are on forums and go the extra mile for those who buy their products, where as the makers of higher priced as in, you want how much for that gun, do not. redeye202 |

RE: 1911 firearms
I've not had to use Armscors (RIA) services yet as both of mine work flawlessly. But reading the posts on m1911.org under the RIA thread, I see almost nothing but good comments dealing with their customer service. And yes, they are on and monitoring that forum all the time. That shows me that they care about their product and will help you when needed.

RE: 1911 firearms
Bruce, over on Poofa, bought a RIA last year. he had some issue with it, and he called up Armscor. he talked directly to the president, and was extremely impressed with the company's character. he received a number of parts, por gratis. they will definitely go out of their way to help out their customers. see if Colt will.

RE: 1911 firearms
I will own more RIAs in the future and even a Taurus[yes jah,i did fondle one at J&G and it felt good],i just have to get the wife to the range to see if she will like a 45 for herself. When i first looked at the RIA that i bought my daughter was with me and when she held it and did a dry fire she said daddy you have to feel the trigger on this, scary quick and smooth.
Rain, rain go away so i can take my gun and go out and play. redeye202 |
