Does anyone know if having a PA LTCF allows you to transport your rifles and such in your vehicle with out the hassle of seperating the clips and ammo to another compartment from which the gun is stored? Especially in an RV which is my home away from home.
An LTCF has no effect on the restrictions regarding long arms.
An LTCF is only applicable to carrying "firearms" per the 18Pa.C.S.6102 definition which is essentially handguns and SBR/SBS.
The only exception is carrying long arms during a declared state of emergency, to which, an LTCF appears to exempt one from that prohibition (18Pa.C.S.6107)
Otherwise, according to 18Pa.C.S.6106.1 long arms can be carried in a vehicle provided they are unloaded per the definition of "unloaded" in 6102. In which note that the ammunition does NOT have to be in a separate compartment unless it is in a removable magazine.
ETA:
I am unsure on the vehicle vs. living quarters issue. There may be case law but I am not aware of any... I would assume that any prosecution would argue that a RV *is* a vehicle. And that could be a legal quagmire for the accused whether the court decides with the individual or not.
