First off to the Gentleman that informed me of all this while at the gun show in Matamoras Best Western (not sure if you are here). I was the one purchasing the SW Sigma 40. Just wanted to say thanks for the info and the word of mouth to this site. I have been reading for about an hour and it is enlightening. While open carry is all well and good, I think I would just rather carry concealed. So much easier and less hassle, especially after reading the incidents on here. I just spent 5 years in the Marine Corps and have been deployed twice and got to use all manner of weapons from my trusty ol' M16, to some nifty tactical shotguns and the M9 and even a few chrome plated blinged out AK's we confiscated. Needless to say I am confident in my weapons handling abilities and my ability to keep cool under threat pressures. Either way, good to be here and look forward to some good conversations with you all. While this open carry thing is new to me, I will do my best to add my .02 cents when possible.
Regards,
Nate
Welcome, Nate!
...and don't let the "incidents on here" scare you off. They are just posted as examples to how events could possibly happen.
The vast majority of OCing goes without any problem, whatsoever. Period. I've carried for 3/4 year with no hassles. PaPatriot has carried a lot longer with only one real hassle.
And by the way...thanks for serving!
Welcome to PAOC.
It doesn't matter if you OC or CC, just remember to keep your cool and know the law. This is the best advice I can give you.
Thank you. I am trying to en grain this law into my head so I know it.
I went to the Sheriff's office today and did not realize it was a holiday...sheesh, what a dummy! LoL
I would like to think I am able to keep my cool. I never lost it in combat and don't think I would do so in a civilian situation. Regardless, that is good advice and I shall follow.
Oh yeah, I have a question actually. I have to report for Marine Corp In-Active Reserve admin function for about 3 hours. Do you think they will throw a hissy if I a packin'? Any ideas? Thanks!
-Nate-
Since the military seems to like guns only when authorized and issued, I would say, NO. Look into where you are going. More than likely it is an off limits area.
Welcome to the tribe and thank you for your service. It is understandable that you want to CC FOR NOW,but soon you will be enticed to the DARK SIDE. You will notice that there is not much posting here as on PAFOA,thats because the BS is kept to a very minimum amount, this place is for info and thats what you get here. I'm babbeling, arn't i.
