First of all my name is Ken and I am new to this group. Hello everyone. I just began ocing a few days ago. I went to Kings Restaurant and Giant Eagle. I have to admit I had a little anxiety at first. I still do a little, but I am sure it will wear off. I have a few questions if you all so graciously would not mind looking at.
1. Not that I want to drink and carry, but what is the law on ocing with any amount of alcohol in your system? Just curious
2. I know the owner of stores and such can ask you to leave if they don't want guns in their place, but if it is not posted and I walk in can I get in trouble for not knowing the owners wishes before hand? Or do I politely just leave and no trouble can come from it.
3. If your 21 or older does the firearm you are carrying have to be registered in your name? Again just curious. Mine is I just want to know the details.
4.Is there a said amount of firearms/ammunition you can carry?
5.Would it be a good idea to go to my local police station and notify them that I will be carrying openly and to make sure they know our gun laws to prevent them from causing a scene with me in the future.
6. I travel to Ohio often which I believe is also a open friendly state. Once I cross the border into Ohio I would empty it and separate the gun/ammo since I don't have an Ohio cc permit. Now when I wanted to OC once I got out of my vehicle could I just load it as soon as I exited my vehicle and carry on?
7.Can I legally draw my piece in public for various reasons besides intent to shoot? Such as allowing someone to check the gun out?
Also anyone know of anyone in the Monroeville/Pittsburgh area that has any oc get together I have never in my life seen anyone ocing and it would be comforting to hang out with and get to know some people who did.

there is no law touching on this. you can be falling down drunk, and you'd be charged with being drunk in public, or disorderly conduct, or anything relating to being drunk. having a gun won't exacerbate any charge you might get.
2. I know the owner of stores and such can ask you to leave if they don't want guns in their place, but if it is not posted and I walk in can I get in trouble for not knowing the owners wishes before hand? Or do I politely just leave and no trouble can come from it.
if the place isn't posted, then you can't get in trouble for just walking in. if you're asked to leave, and don't, then you will get in trouble, for defiant trespass.
3. If your 21 or older does the firearm you are carrying have to be registered in your name? Again just curious. Mine is I just want to know the details.
to borrow a gun from someone not related to you, you need a valid LTCF, i think.
4.Is there a said amount of firearms/ammunition you can carry?
you can carry whatever you're strong enough to. i used to carry one or two guns, depending on where i was going. some guys carry 1 small pocket pistol, others carry 5 high capacity handguns. the choice is yours.
5.Would it be a good idea to go to my local police station and notify them that I will be carrying openly and to make sure they know our gun laws to prevent them from causing a scene with me in the future.
no. police departments across PA already know open carry is legal. all they would do is try and discourage you, threaten you, and lie to you. the police, by and large, are not your friend.

you'd have to check OH laws.
7.Can I legally draw my piece in public for various reasons besides intent to shoot? Such as allowing someone to check the gun out?
you can, but it's NOT a good idea. if a LEO saw you doing that, he might be inclined to shoot first, and ask questions later. never handle a gun casually in public. it's not a toy to play with, it's not a fashion accessory to show off. it's a weapon designed to kill.
Thank you for taking the time to answer all these questions. I really appreciate it. And for the record I would never draw my gun for any reason other then defense. Question #7 was just a legal question. The more laws I know the better off I am. Even if they will never pertain to me.
Welcome!
Answers are for Pa., unless otherwise specified.
1. There are laws about drinking and laws about carrying but there are no Pa. or Fed laws regarding drinking AND carrying.
2. Defiant tresspass laws generally require you be notified of the owners intent. If there are no signs and there they have not told you not to return previously, you should not have a problem.
3. There is no registration in Pa. ref: 18Pa.C.S.6111.4 (in the legal section)
4. no
5. IMO, No. They *should* already know the laws, many PD's ignore the law and "create a scene" anyway.
6. I recommend against loading/unloading in public places (absent a safe backstop) and handling firearms in cars or public in general. For lots of reasons but primarily safety. ND's happen, it is our responsibility to ensure they happen in a safe direction, like a backstop.
7. Not recommended in most public places, see above.
