Oil City Gun Thief Arrested

An Oil City man was arrested for stealing a gun early Friday evening in Venango County.

Franklin-based State Police say 27-year-old Jeremy Hazlett was apprehended in Sandycreek Township about 25 hours after he took a gun from Maurer's Trading Post on Route 8 in Franklin. He was apprehended at around 7pm last night and taken into custody without incident.

Hazlett was arraigned on a single felony count of Retail Theft of a Firearm and placed in the Venango County Jail on $35,000 straight cash bond.

Anyone want to take bets on how much "punishment" this guy will get? I'm guessing he'll plead to a misdemeanor and get about 12 months (if that) of probation.



By the way - Maurer's Trading Post is only about 15 miles from me and one of my favorite places to go fondle guns. Nice store, good selection.
